Wind and Solar in the UK
Parc Cynog Wind and Solar Farm and Pendine Wind Farm
UK Managed Wind and Solar Farms
Wind and Solar Power in South Wales
The 5 MW Parc Cynog Solar Farm, alongside the existing Parc Cynog and Pendine wind farms, makes efficient use of the available grid capacity by utilising the same grid infrastructure. Parc Cynog Wind Farm generates clean electricity from five wind turbines with a combined capacity of 3.75 MW, while the nearby Pendine Wind Farm produces up to 4.8 MW from six turbines. By sharing a single grid connection, wind and solar generation work alongside each other, helping to maximise clean energy production throughout the year. These three farms are located across land owned by three landowners, who are working collaboratively to support ongoing low‑carbon energy generation in the local area
Community Benefits
The Parc Cynog Fund
The Parc Cynog Fund was established in 2011 through the community benefit fund of the Pendine Wind Farm which is owned by European Energy Development Ltd. It is managed by community representatives.
The mission of the fund is to
“make grants to assist in inspiring community welfare and cohesion and to provide social economic and environmental benefits to the local communities of Eglwys Cummin, Laugharne, Llanddowror, Llanmiloe and Pendine”.
